C3 Church-Building Reopening Plan

Phase 1 (Where we are now)

In March, C3 did not close our church but we did close our building. We were able to pivot quickly and begin offering online services, Bible studies, and even community groups. The student ministry finished the semester strong with online gatherings as well.  As we have now moved from a stay-at-home order into a safer-at-home recommendation, with guidelines from our state and local officials we now prepare to move into phase 2, which will include reopening the building for services.

As we prepare for reopening the building for in-person meetings, it is important that, as much as possible, we be on the same page as a church family. Here are a few resolutions that the C3 elders, pastors, and staff have agreed upon.

Reopening Resolutions

1.       We will prayerfully, wisely and methodically act, not react.

2.       Reopening is a complex, polarizing issue, especially during a pandemic.  Regardless of which side of these polarizing issues we individually fall on, we will collectively be willing to sacrifice our ideals for a season, out of love and concern for others.  One of our core values is “It is not about us” and this is a great opportunity for us to put that into practice.

3.       Due to the scope of ministry, the size of our building, and all of the logistics involved, we were one of the first churches in our area to move to online only and will not resume in-person gatherings until we are confident in a plan that will provide a safe environment for everyone, including the young families with infants, the 80- and 90-year-olds in our church family, and everyone in between that we all care for so much.

4.       We will hold our plans loosely and commit to being flexible, knowing that things can and likely will change.

5.       Our church will shift from being an in-person organization (that happens to have some online presence) to increasingly becoming an organization that brings quality ministry to both online and in-person settings. This will allow us to  more effectively accomplish our mission statement of “helping everyone take their next step of faith in Christ” and continue to equip and multiply our people to be the church seven days a week and not just on Sundays.

Phase 2 Late June or Early July

1.       Online services and studies will continue.

2.       Online midweek Bible study will continue.

3.       In-person services will be offered with social distancing based on the most updated guidance.

4.       In-person C3 Kids will not be offered, but Cry Rooms with the service streaming on screen will be.

Phase 3   Possibly Mid-August

1.       In-person services and studies will be offered with lessened restrictions.

2.       Online services and studies will continue as an available option.

3.       Full C3 Kids programming will resume.

4.       Student Ministry will resume around this time as well (Early Fall).

*This is our current plan and the dates and details are subject to change.  We will try to send an update at least every two weeks with more details as we work through the logistics and interpret the latest updates to the guidelines.  We love you, please stay tuned.

believer...doubter...skeptic

Doubt is natural… Believers need to wrestle with the same questions that skeptics ask. Many believers "inherited" their faith and may have never asked these questions. Both doubters and believers have a moral and intellectual responsibility to examine their doubts and beliefs. C3 is a place that encourages this to happen. Learn more
